Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how marskidris.com collects and uses your information when you use the site. We keep this simple because the site currently collects very little.
1. What We Collect
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address — used to identify your account and for password reset emails
- Display name — your name or username shown on your profile
- Authentication method — whether you signed in with email/password or Google
- Reading progress — the last chapter you read and a record of chapters you have read, stored on your account to personalise your experience
Your character builder data is stored entirely in your browser's localStorage and is never sent to our servers unless you manually export it.
2. How We Use It
Your data is used only to operate the site: authenticating your account, showing your reading progress on your profile, and enabling password resets. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
3. Third-Party Services
The site uses the following third-party services which may process your data:
- Google Firebase — account authentication and database storage. Your data is held on Firebase infrastructure and subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google OAuth — if you sign in with Google, Google shares your name and email with the site as part of the sign-in flow.
- Vercel — site hosting. Vercel may retain server request logs per their own data policies.
4. Cookies & localStorage
Firebase sets a session cookie required for login to function. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your character builder data and theme preference (light/dark mode) are stored in your browser's localStorage and remain on your device.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
Your account data is kept for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us — we will action this within 30 days.
6. Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us through the site. If you are in the EU or California, you have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA respectively — contact us to exercise them.
7. Children's Privacy
The site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has registered, contact us and we will remove the account promptly.
8. Future Features
As new features are added to the site — including comments, subscriptions, and engagement systems — this Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect what additional data is collected and how it is used. We will note any material changes at the top of this page.
9. Contact
For privacy questions or data requests, contact us through the site.
